Sumo Wrestling Games

Initially, sumo video games were also developed by Japanese just like the original game. For the rest of the world, fighting games were only boxing, Karate, and wrestling. The first sumo video game provided on Arcade in 1984. The Technos Japan Corporation developed Shusse Ōzumō but it was limited to Japan. The objective of the video game was same as the original game but it wasn’t a championship. It consisted of three levels or fights and you have to win at least two to continue playing. As the game was limited to Japan so the only language was Japanese. In its Japanese title, the word Ōzumō’s meaning is Sumo.

Later on an Australian company Home Entertainment Suppliers (HES), developed and distributed a game Sumo Wrestler was only available to play in the US and Europe.

The video game publishing company Tecmo developed a sumo game Tsuppari Ōzumō that would be available on 8-bit console Nintendo Entertainment System (NES), and once again, it was a Japan exclusive game.

In 1992, Nintendo published some sumo games, two years later the launch of their well-known Super Nintendo, they published the game Ōzumō Tamashi which was distributed by Takari.  Again the game was exclusive to Japan only.
